Visual Story

Description

Carey Mulligan is rocking this short-length bob which is cut using a blunt technique. The blunt cut sits right underneath her jawline, which helps to soften the edges of her strong jawline. This bob is easy for you to maintain and style, but you will need to cut it once every six weeks to keep the blunt bob in shape and ensure your ends stay healthy. The parting down the middle allows her bob to fall evenly on both sides and allows Carey to place her hair behind her ear. Carey has kept some hair at the front of her ear to help frame the side of her face well. She has added a few lighter highlights to her bob, which lightens this hairstyle and draws attention to the ends of her hair, which helps to elongate her face shape. This hairstyle is ideal for those with an oval, round, oblong, or heart face shape. If your hair is thin, medium, or thick, this hairstyle will work for you. Keep in mind that if your hair is thick, you will need to use extra hairspray to ensure that your hair does not have flyaway hairs. You can also ask your hairdresser to thin out your hair a bit if it is too thick for this style.

This hairstyle has a natural look to it, which is why a non-makeup makeup application will work best with this hairstyle. A light foundation application with a thin liner and a nude or pastel lipstick color, and you are ready to rock this bob hairstyle!

Styling Steps

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your nose and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even middle part. A middle part is a great way to make small, round face shapes appear longer and thinner.

Squeeze a small amount of straightening balm into your palms and then rub your hands together before smoothing the product evenly through damp hair.

When straightening your hair, first make sure that your hair is completely dry. Then, section your hair off starting from the back/nape using a comb. Straighten your hair starting from the roots and working your way down to the ends using your comb as your guide. Make sure not to leave the straightening iron in one spot for more than 3 seconds. To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
